Welcoming new team members to Rome2Rio

New team at Rome2Rio
Published April 18, 2017

Life at Rome2Rio is busy and the last few months have been no exception as we work on key product improvements to our desktop and web experiences in our effort to make travel easier for everyone. Part of this means hiring more talented people to help us in our mission and we are delighted to introduce a swathe of new team members. Please welcome Alisa, Michelle, Lucy, Justin, Tim, Tom, Mark, Michael, Emma, Jason and Carter to the team.

Alisa and Michelle join our content team and will help to build our pricing, timetable, route and operator data so that we can continue to be the most comprehensive source of online travel information. Both are keen travellers. Alisa hails from Ukraine and spent the last two years travelling through central and southeast Asia and working remotely in digital marketing. Michelle joins us after time in data management for a not-for-profit and has also worked in Japan and London. Her travel planning spreadsheets are a thing of beauty.

Justin joined us recently to head up our customer service operations. We’ll benefit from his years of experience in customer service at American Express and his intimate knowledge of travel planning for big groups – we already having him planning this year’s company retreat.

Lucy bounded into the team in as a software development intern. She is currently studying Computer Science at the University of Melbourne as well as tutoring younger students. She also finds time for travel, recently returning from a trip to Paris and with a trip to North Korea in the works.

Tim, Carter, Michael and Jason have all joined as backend developers, working on our core product and booking integrations to make Rome2Rio more efficient, reliable and helpful when booking transport. Tim has spent the last year travelling throughout Asia and has plenty of stories to share about his trip. He is also a keen musician. There seems to be a theme emerging as Carter is also a musician as well an aficionado of modern board games. He is not alone in his love of games – Jason studied Games Programming and Computer Science at RMIT and got stuck into a few data migration roles before joining Rome2Rio. Michael rounds out our new faces in core engineering. After completing his degree he spent some time working and travelling through the USA and Canada.

Mark and Tom bring additional design chops to our engineering team. Originating in Dublin, Mark has cut his teeth in travel startups and finance and is about to head off on a European adventure. Mark will be working on making improvements to Rome2Rio’s mobile apps. Tom’s diverse background in design and video production makes him a perfect addition to the team and he’ll be working on key UI projects. Apart from his interest in web design, Tom is also a keen music producer.

Last but not least, Emma joins the team as our Community Operations Manager. She’ll be working to make sure the team at Rome2Rio remains happy and healthy. She is suitably skilled in this arena with her love of food and netball and experience in hospitality and administration roles.

We are really excited to have so many talented people joining us in our mission to make travel planning easier. We are looking for more talented to people to join our team. Interested? Check out our careers page to see which roles we have available.
