How to get from Southend Airport into central London

With routes to some of Europe’s most popular tourist destinations, a single, easy-to-navigate terminal and just a handful of boarding gates serving its lone runway, London Southend Airport (airport code SEN) is a hassle-free antidote to mega-airports like Heathrow. But be warned: the airport is located in Essex on England’s east coast (a whopping 42 miles (68 km) from the English capital), so getting from London Southend Airport to London can be time-consuming.

Since Southend Airport is so small (and so far), it doesn’t have a direct coach or bus service to London. In fact, your only public transport option is to take the train (operated by Greater Anglia) to Liverpool Street Station via Stratford Station (both are in East London). You can connect to the Tube from either. Otherwise, if you dare to brave London traffic, you can hire a rental car at the terminal.
