How do I change or cancel my booking?

Life can be unexpected, and we understand this means that your travel plans may change. As soon as your booking is completed, we automatically reserve your tickets with the operator using the details you have provided. So you, and Rome2rio, are immediately bound to the ticket conditions. If you would like to change or cancel your tickets, please follow the instructions specific to your operator.

National Rail (UK Rail)

If you want to change the date or time of your journey, you must first cancel the original trip with us and then make your new booking online. If your ticket is refundable, please send an email to tickets@rome2rio.com with your booking details and cancellation request.

Important: If your payment card for ticket collection is lost/expired/cancelled, please contact our customer support team at least 72 hours before departure and we will reach out to the train operator on your behalf. We will try our best to assist, but due to strict operator regulations, there is no guarantee that they will be able to find a solution, and you may need to forfeit your ticket.


Amtrak (USA Rail)

Depending on your ticket conditions, this is easy. You can make changes to your Rome2rio reservation on the following website: https://www.amtrak.com/home.html

Step 1: Select ‘Modify Trip’ on the top menu and type your 6-character Amtrak reservation number, and your email address. Then click ‘Find Trip’.

Renfe (Spain Rail)

If you want to change the date or time of your journey, you must first cancel the original trip with us and then make your new booking online. If your ticket is refundable, please send an email to tickets@rome2rio.com at least 4-hours before departure with your booking details and cancellation request.


Trenitalia (Italy Rail)

If you want to cancel a Base or Ordinary ticket, please send an email to tickets@rome2rio.com with your booking details and cancellation request.

Otherwise, if you want to amend the date or time of your tickets, you can do this before departure by visiting a Trenitalia station in Italy, or via the Trenitalia website (for ‘Base’ and ‘Ordinary’ tickets only) as follows:

Step 1: Visit the ‘Manage your ticket’ section of the Trenitalia website by clicking here.

Step 2: Select ‘I have the PNR/Ticket code’ and enter your email address and the 6-character PNR or 9-digit ticket code provided on your e-ticket. Then click ‘Search’.

Step 3: Select ‘Manage your ticket’.

Step 4: Select which passengers you would like to change, and then click ‘Change Booking (date/time of departure)’.

Step 5: Choose your new travel date and time, click refresh, and follow the remaining prompts.

Please note: Economy tickets can only be exchanged by visiting a Trenitalia station in Italy before departure. Changes cannot be made online or by calling Trenitalia, and we are unfortunately unable to make any changes on your behalf.


National Express (UK Coach/Bus)

At this stage, all National Express fares available on Rome2rio are non-refundable and non-amendable. If you are no longer able to travel, or if you’ve purchased the incorrect date/time, you will need to re-book and forfeit your original ticket. However, in case of travelling from or to an airport your ticket is valid for 12 hours after the departure time stated on the ticket.


VIA Rail (Canada Rail)

If you want to change the date or time of your journey, you must first cancel the original trip with us and then make your new booking online. If your ticket is refundable, please send an email to tickets@rome2rio.com at least 4-hours before departure with your booking details and cancellation request.

If you have purchased a non-refundable “Escape” fare, amendments can only be made by calling VIA Rail directly on +18888427245. Any changes will incur a 50% fee (minimum CAD$20) plus any fare difference.


Deutsche Bahn (German Rail)

If you want to change the date or time of your journey, you must first cancel the original trip with us and then make your new booking online. If your ticket is refundable, please send an email to tickets@rome2rio.com with your booking details and cancellation request.


SNCF (French Rail), Thalys, Lyria, Renfe-SNCF, DB-SNCF, SNCF TER

If you want to change the date or time of your journey, you must first cancel the original trip with us and then make your new booking online. If your ticket is refundable, please send an email to tickets@rome2rio.com at least 4-hours before departure with your booking details and cancellation request.


Eurostar

If your Eurostar ticket is refundable, please send your cancellation request to tickets@rome2rio.com with your booking details.

Alternatively, ticket exchanges can only be performed at a Eurostar Station (Paris Gare du Nord, London St Pancras International, Bruxelles Midi, Ebbsfleet International, Ashford International, Calais-Frethun).


Greyhound (USA Bus)

Currently only ‘Flexible’ fare tickets are able to be refunded or amended without incurring a fee. All other ticket types are non-refundable however they can be amended prior to the departure date for a fee of USD 20 per ticket. The origin and destination of the ticket cannot be changed.

Refunds or amendments can only be made at a Greyhound station or by calling Greyhound customer service on +1-214-849-8966 between 5 am – 11 pm Central Time.


ALSA

Currently only ‘Flexible’ and ‘Reduced’ fares are able to be amended. A fee may be incurred if you decide to amend the ticket within 48 hours of the original departure date.

Only ‘Flexible’ fares are able to fully refunded minus the booking fee as long as there is more than 2 hours before the departure time. Please send your cancellation request to tickets@rome2rio.com and we will also issue out any applicable refunds.

‘Minimum’ fares although they provide the greatest value are strictly non-refundable and non-amendable.

If you would like to amend a Flexible or Reduced fare please refer to the below instructions.

Step 1: Go to https://www.movelia.es/en/index.html and click the ‘Ticket Management’ tab at the top of the screen.

Step 2: Enter your booking and ID/Passport number into the two boxes. Please ensure that when entering your booking number it is done in lowercase.

Step 3: Your ticket details should appear below. Please select the ticket you wish to amend and click ‘Change Ticket(s)’.

Step 4: Select again the ticket you wish to amend. Once done then click ‘confirm’

Step 5: This page will allow you to change the departure date, click the blank departure box and enter the date you wish to travel on and then click ‘confirm’.

Step 6: Select the new time that you wish to travel on for that day. If you see the word ‘Plazas Disponibles’ this means that seats are available. Click the pricing box to select the time then click ‘continuar’.

Step 7: If you would like to change seats click the X button at the bottom of the page which says ‘Delete’. Any seats which are green can be selected. If done correctly a new seat number will generate in the text box. Once done click ‘continue’.

Step 8: Your new ticket details will now be shown alongside the original and new ticket price. Please be aware that if your new ticket is more expensive than the initial fare you will have to pay the difference. Click ‘continue’ to go to the payment screen.

Step 9: If your amended ticket is the same price as the initial fare then you just need to tick the ‘I have read the purchase conditions’ box and click continue.  If your new ticket(s) are more expensive than the original fare you will be prompted to pay the difference.

Step 10: You will now be on the confirmation page. An email will shortly be sent to you with your new e-ticket.
